GRAFFITIS…MESSAGES PAINTED

Do you want to get rid of graffiti?

Graffiti are those markings usually made with spray that sometimes make us look with fascination and other times we see them and feel uncomfortable.

We can find them anywhere, in any color and of any type.

According to graffiti artists, we can find graffiti and tags that some of them define as:

Graffiti is a mural, or a wall painted in a worked and beautiful way.

Through graffiti, messages, protests, moods are transmitted…

A tag is a quick signature to make yourself known around the city and is what we mostly see on the streets, it is the identifying mark of each person.

Graffiti artists express themselves through their markings mainly on walls, murals, trains, storefronts…

but not all of them do, some respect the “legal” zones dedicated for them to express themselves even though they also recognize that they like to do it in public places so their work, their protest, their cause can be seen well… others criticize those who do it without respect, painting and dirtying in bad faith.

The problem comes when the marking has been made on a façade, on a building entrance, on a vehicle, in children’s parks, on a storefront…

This then leads us to divide graffiti into two categories: Legal graffiti (art) and illegal graffiti (vandalism), the latter representing a high cost to clean.

When the decision to “leave it or remove it” comes up…the most economical option is to leave it alone, but cleaning is the best decision to restore the appearance that the surface had before a graffiti artist without anyone’s permission decided to stamp their “mark” on any place not intended for that.

Graffiti is usually made with aerosols, acids, plastic paints or markers, which penetrate the pores of surfaces and can go as deep as one centimeter into the spaces where they are made.

Anti-graffiti products have been developed that solve graffiti problems, protect the surfaces of building materials, preventing paint from penetrating their porous systems or adhering to surfaces, thus facilitating their subsequent cleaning (with pressure water, chemical products, etc.).

And although graffiti removal is possible on most surfaces, to avoid problems, you must know how to distinguish the type of material you want to clean to avoid changing the appearance that the surface had once the graffiti is removed.

Sometimes trying to remove graffiti with inadequate products complicates the results because they cause the graffiti paint to penetrate deeper into the surface, making complete removal impossible. Hence the need to rely on professional products with proper guidance.
